Measuring Stakeholder Capitalism Towards Common Metrics and Consistent Reporting of Sustainable Value Creation

This white paper, published by WEF, takes a step towards identifying universal metrics to report on sustainable value creation. The need for business to build “sustainable value creation that embraces the wider demands of people and planet” is stated and 21 core and 34 expanded metrics are presented. These are summarized in 4 different pillars:

o   Principles of governance
o   Planet
o   People
o   Prosperity

The aim of evenodds is to work towards improving sustainability metrics in the people pillar, RQ is the enabling tool we provide. Equality in the workplace is no longer a “nice to have” but a necessity. As stated in the paper, employers are now expected to offer “all those with a stake in the firm’s value creation the opportunity to thrive and grow”.

The WEF paper further emphasizes the business case for companies to measure and disclose information on “how they ensure an engaged, skilled and healthy workforce across their value chain”. Investigating in equality and sustainability metrics creates non-financial as well as financial value. This is now critical for business performance and competitive advantage.
